Memory for Claude Code
Local memory for AI agents
hipokamp turns every turn of an agent session into a note and brings it back when you return to the work. Writing calls no language model. The data stays on your computer.
Features
Notes from every session, found again when they matter
01
Writes without an LLM
A note is built from the session transcript: title, narrative, files, commands, errors and decisions. No language model, so no fees and no limits.
02
Hybrid search
A full text index that understands Polish word forms, plus vectors computed locally. One result list merges both rankings.
03
Recalls on its own
At session start, at a prompt when the match is confident, and when the agent opens a file that a note is about.
04
MCP tools
The agent searches the memory, reads notes, saves decisions and task lists. Forgetting a note can be undone.
05
Several agent environments
One memory for Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, OpenCode and Claude Desktop.
06
Local, no account
The database lives on your computer. No accounts, no telemetry, no cloud. Secrets are masked before anything is written.
How it works
Write after the turn, rank, recall
A note after every turn
A hook reads the transcript from where it stopped and writes a note. If a hook is cut off, a background process catches up.
Index and ranking
The note goes into the full text index and gets a vector. Ranking weighs how often and how recently a note was used.
Recall while you work
The next session gets matching notes in its context, or the agent asks the memory itself through MCP.
Questions
Before you ask
Does any data leave my computer?
No. The only network traffic is a one time download of the vector model. Syncing several computers is opt in, and the server then receives only ciphertext.
What does writing a note cost?
Nothing. A note is built from the transcript without calling a language model, so it uses no tokens and no limits.
Do I need a graphics card?
No. A GPU only speeds up the first computation of vectors. hipokamp also runs on the processor alone.
I use claude-mem. What happens to my notes?
hipokamp imports the claude-mem database read only. Its MCP tools have the same names and parameters, so your habits and prompts keep working.
How do I get hipokamp?
There is no public download. Write to biuro@hexart.pl and ask for access.
